Patches, my Siamese cat, seems to have an algorithm of his own when it comes to getting his way. But it's not nearly as elusive as it may seem. While sitting in my cosy Melbourne abode, I've discovered that AI, like training a fussy feline, has nuances that make it both fascinating and compelling.

Ever wondered about the nuts and bolts that keep an AI system up and running? If only it was as simple as feeding Patches on time so he wouldn't knock everything off my desk as a form of protest. I've yet to train Patches to make a cup of coffee in the morning - though wouldn't that be delightful. However, AI system, like a virtual assistant, can set a coffee machine timer for me. All while, most likely, driving my cat Patches up the wall with all its mechanical whirring and beeping.
